Is Bryce Young At Fault For His Early-Career Struggles? Or Is The Team To Blame? - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers had a chance to pick up their second victory of the season on Thursday night as they went up against the also-lowly Chicago Bears. But they came up short in a showdown of rookie quarterbacks, which predictably became a defensive battle between two anemic offenses.

How Much Of The Panthers’ Struggles Rest On Bryce Young?

The Panthers are now 1-8 and are tied with the Arizona Cardinals for the worst record in the NFL, and Young hasn’t looked like the sure-fire prospect that made the Panthers select him first overall in the most recent draft.

It hasn’t helped that the guy drafted immediately after him is putting up better numbers than we’ve ever seen from a rookie. CJ Stroud is lighting the league on fire through the first half of the season, and currently has 14 touchdowns and has thrown just one interception. His Houston Texans are one of the surprise teams in the league at 4-4.

Bryce Young, on the other hand, has thrown 8 touchdowns and 7 picks. He entered the week with fewer passing yards than Kenny Pickett and Zach Wilson, and had the lowest QBR and 4th-lowest quarterback rating. He has looked like anything but a can’t-miss prospect, which has plenty of people already questioning if the Panthers made the right pick in the 2023 Draft.

Carolina Roster Is Devoid Of Elite Talent

But how much of the troubles are Young’s fault? The Panthers have a roster that is nearly devoid of any elite talent, and they traded away the player that would have been the team’s #1 wide receiver in order to acquire the rights to draft the rookie quarterback. The offensive line has done him no favors, as he has been sacked 4+ times on five different occasions this year, and they allowed eight pressures from Montez Sweat in his second game as a member of the Bears.

So while it may be easy to point at Bryce Young and use the “bust” label on a guy who has only played in 8 games, the circumstances surrounding the situation should be considered. The Panthers now have a mini-bye week after the Thursday night game, and will play against the Dallas Cowboys on the other side.

Minnesota Vikings Have More At Stake Than Any Other NFL Team In Week 10 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

It has been a rollercoaster first half of the 2023 NFL season for the Minnesota Vikings. They started out 1-4 with their only win coming over the lowly Panthers in Week 4, and it looked as if they were headed for the bottom of the standings in the NFC. But Kevin O’Connell’s team is one of the hottest teams in the league, having not lost a game since October 8th, and have been winning despite some tough circumstances.

Vikings Have Most To Lose, And Gain, This Week In Game vs. Saints

All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson has missed all four games of the winning streak while on injured reserve, and Kirk Cousins is out for the season after being one of the top quarterbacks in the league statistically for the games that he played early on. The Vikings were forced to turn to a player who had been on their roster for 4 days to play quarterback for them last Sunday, but Josh Dobbs pulled off one of the wildest feats you’ll ever see in the NFL last Sunday.

Once left for dead, the Vikings are in the thick of the NFC playoff race. If the season ended today, they would be the 7th and final seed in the conference with their 5-4 record. But their position is volatile, and they have more at stake this Sunday than any other team in the NFL for Week 10.

Playoff Chances Boost To 74% With A Win

Minnesota currently has a 56% chance of making the playoffs, according to PFF projections. If they win, their odds will see a massive boost, all the way up to 74%, but a loss would send them into tough territory. Should they come up short against the New Orleans Saints this week, they’ll drop down to 41%. That is a 33% swing that will take place depending on the result of the game, more than the Bills and Bengals, who both have 31% swings this week.

Jefferson has been activated from the injured reserve, but when he’ll actually return to the field is unknown. The player himself confirmed on Thursday that he wouldn’t return until he was sure that he felt 100%, and he’s not exactly sure when that will be. It is highly unlikely that it will come this Sunday, a game which the Vikings are currently listed as 3 point underdogs for.

NFL: Tonight Is The Rare “Win-Win” Situation For Chicago Bears - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Carolina Panthers will travel to Chicago to take on the Bears for a Thursday Night Football showdown this evening, a game that will feature two of the bottom-tier teams in the league, who currently have a combined record of 3-14. Two rookie quarterbacks will be leading their squads, one struggling first overall pick and one undrafted player from a D2 school, making for one of the less intriguing prime time matchups for the 2023 NFL season.

Bears Will Improve Their NFL Draft Position With A Win Over Panthers

But there are some things at stake in tonight’s game, especially for the home team.

These two teams have been linked for about nine months now. The Bears finished the 2022 NFL season with the worst record in the league, and had the rights to the first overall pick in the 2023 Draft. The Panthers were an interested party, and they traded away some serious assets in order to acquire the pick and draft Bryce Young out of Alabama.

The Bears stuck with Justin Fields in hopes that he would turn a corner this season, but there is a good chance that the team will look to move on in the off-season, especially given the draft capital that they will potentially have come late April.

In the deal for last year’s first overall pick, the Bears acquired a handful of future picks from Carolina, including the Panthers’ first round pick in 2024. That means that in addition to their own selection in the upcoming draft, they’ll have Carolina’s as well, which would put them in unheard of position in a draft loaded with offensive talent.

Bears Would Have 2nd & 3rd Overall Picks If Season Ended Today

Every time that the Panthers lose is a win for the Bears and their potential draft capital, and there has been plenty of that happening so far this year. So while they may hurt their own draft stock if they pick up a victory tonight, the Bears would benefit even further from a loss by Carolina, and would keep them as one of the two teams in the NFL with fewer than two wins.

As it stands today, before the game’s action gets underway, the Arizona Cardinals would have the first overall pick. Chicago would be picking second in lieu of the Panthers, and then third overall with their own selection.

Bengals News: Tee Higgins Expected To Miss Week 10, Chase Limited - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. After starting the season slow and limping out to a 1-3 start, they have won four in a row with a couple of impressive wins over formidable opponents. Joe Burrow is looking like his usual self after dealing with a leg injury throughout the preseason, and the team is in the thick of the race for the ultra-competitive AFC North.

Higgins Out For Bengals, Chase Status Unknown

The Bengals have a tough stretch of games coming up, starting this Sunday with a contest against the CJ Stroud and the upstart Houston Texans. They are currently listed as a comfortable 6.5 point favorite, but they may be dealing with some injury issues to key players come Sunday.

In last week’s Sunday night matchup with the Bills, Ja’Marr Chase went up for a deep pass and came down on his back with full force, causing the game’s commentators to remark about how sore he’d be in the morning. That assumption rang true, as Chase is now dealing with a back issue, and was held out of practice on Wednesday.

Cincy Needs All Hands On Deck To Continue Surge

But that wasn’t the worst injury news. In that Wednesday practice, fellow wide receiver Tee Higgins suffered a hamstring injury, and was reportedly walking gingerly in the locker room afterwards. There was hope that it was simply a scare, but the news coming out of the Bengals facility on Thursday is that Higgins has been downgraded to out, and will miss the game against the Texans entirely.

It was also reported that Chase did return to practice on Thursday, but was listed as a limited participant and his status is still unknown.

The Bengals need all hands on deck in order to pick up some much-needed wins. The race for the AFC playoffs is going to be a bloodbath given the talent in the conference, and the AFC North is just about as packed up as they come. The Ravens lead the division by a game and a half with a 7-2 record, but each of the Bengals, Steelers, and Browns are sitting at 5-3 and within a weekend or two of taking the top spot away from Baltimore.

NFL Odds: Could Kyler Murray Be The Patriots Quarterback In 2024? - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Arizona Cardinals have the worst record in the NFL at 1-8 and control their own destiny when it comes to having the first overall pick in next year’s draft. It has long been an assumption that the team would look to move on from Kyler Murray now that there is a new coaching regime in town, and having a top pick in a quarterback-rich draft would be the optimal way to replace the 5-year veteran.

But if the Cardinals do move on from Murray, where would he go? He is a three-time Pro Bowler and is one of the top dual-threat QBs in the league, and is still just 26 years old with plenty of career ahead of him. There will be teams that are interested in bringing in an established pass thrower, and Murray could be one of the biggest names on the market, depending on how things shake out early in the off-season.

Which NFL Team Will Kyler Murray Play For In 2024?

Here are three of the more interesting options listed on the odds board at BetOnline for where Kyler Murray will play in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season:

New England Patriots (+500)

There have been more than a handful of teams that have struggled with their quarterback situations this year, but most of them are due to injuries to their starters. For the Patriots, their woes at the position are due to Mac Jones and his lack of development in his third season. They will almost certainly be looking for a quarterback this off-season, whether it be with a high draft pick or through free agency and trades, and Kyler Murray could be an option for Bill Belichick and company.

Tennessee Titans (+550)

The Titans are the NFL team with the second-shortest odds, but their +550 designation will likely end up holding little value. The team is all but guaranteed to part ways with Ryan Tannehill during the off-season, but they have used two early-round draft picks on quarterbacks in the past couple of years, and Will Levis has looked solid in his first two appearances. It is unlikely that Tennessee would pour any further resources into the quarterback position for at least another year or two.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+900)

The Steelers at +900 might just hold the best value. They are currently 5-3 and in the thick of the playoff picture, but there are serious questions surrounding current quarterback Kenny Pickett. Mike Tomlin may choose to move on in the off-season, but Pittsburgh won’t have a high enough draft pick in order to select one of the elite prospects coming out next year. They may have to hit the NFL free agent or trade market, and Kyler Murray could be on their radar.

Texans Injury Report: Dameon Pierce And Nico Collins Not Practicing Today - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Houston Texans’ key offensive pieces Dameon Pierce and Nico Collins were not seen practicing today as they get ready to face the Bengals.

Pierce has been dealing with an ankle injury while Collins is dealing with a calf injury. Pierce missed last week’s game and him missing a second game in a row would not be surprising. Collins was deemed a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. Him being downgraded to a DNP is not a good sign for his availability on Sunday. Tomorrow will be a big day for Collins as he looks to build another good game.

Pierce has not been the runner he was last year. He is averaging only 3.0 yards per carry. Even thouhg the offensive line is not helping him, Pierce still is not getting it done between the tackles. The Texans have now gone to a 50/50 split with Devin Singletary when Pierce was healthy. Singletary will likley lead the backfield once again with Mike Boone also mixing in as well.

CDN media

Nico Collins is having a breakout season for the Houston Texans and is one of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud’s favorite targets. Him and rookie Tank Dell have been one of the more underrated wide receiver duos in the NFL. Collins already has 631 yards receiving and is averaging 17.5 yards per reception. Collins also has a whopping 11.9 yards per target and has solidified himself as the big play threat in this high powered passing offense.

The Houston Texans are +525 to win the AFC South according to Texas sportsbooks.

The Texans face a tough test going on the road to face the Cincinnati Bengals. With Collins and Pierce looking iffy to play, it will be tough for the Texans to win playing against a streaking Bengals team.

Tonight, the Carolina Panthers will be on the road to face the Chicago Bears to start Week 10. Both teams are coming off a loss in Week 9. In their last game, the Colts lost 27-13 to the Indianapolis Colts at home. Rookie QB Bryce Young had the worst game of his short career so far. He threw two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns by Indy.

Chicago lost 24-17 to the Saints in Week 9. Tyson Bagent is still the starter for the Bears while Justin Fields deals with a thumb injury. Fields hasn’t been ruled out for tonight’s game, but he is listed as doubtful. Bagent will almost certainly start tonight barring Fields miraculously being ready to play.

The 1-7 Panthers will be on the road tonight to face the 2-7 Bears in Week 10

Ahead of Thursday’s matchup, you can visit BetOnline for all your NFL bets. We’ll look at the best prop bets for the Panthers vs. Bears game.

NFL Odds: Prop Bets for Panthers vs. Bears game Week 10

1. Hayden Hurst Over 16.5 receiving yards @ (-114) via BetOnline

This season, the Carolina Panthers are one of two teams heading into Week 10 with just one win. They are 1-7 to start the year and it hasn’t been promising after having the #1 overall pick in 2023. Bryce Young has been underwhelming to start the year and Panthers fans are hoping he’ll turn it around in the second half of the season.

One of Young’s top targets this season is starting TE Hayden Hurst. He’s played in all eight games for the Panthers in 2023, averaging (21.3) yards per game. In Week 9, Hurst had two catches for 54 yards and a long of 48. Tonight, his O/U for receiving yards is set at (16.5) vs. the Bears. Hurst has gone over that number in half of his games played this season.

2. D’Onta Foreman Over 63.5 rushing yards @ (-114) via BetOnline

Injuries have forced backups into starting roles at a few key positions for the Bears this season. One of them being RB. Khalil Herbert is on the IR and is still dealing with a hamstring injury. In his place, Roschon Johnson and D’Onta Foreman have gotten most of the carries. In the past few weeks, Foreman has solidified himself as the lead back when Herbert is out.

Last Sunday, Foreman had 20 carries for 83 yards vs. the Saints. Tonight, his O/U for rushing yards is set at (63.5) vs. the Panthers. Foreman has gone over that number in three of his five games played this season. Carolina is 28th out of 32 teams this season, allowing (131.8) rushing yards per ga,e in 2023.

3. Adam Thielen Over (6.5) receptions @ (-130) via BetOnline

While the Panthers have struggled on offense this season, Bryce Young knows who his favorite target is. Adam Thielen is in his first year with Carolina and he’s quickly become their WR1. This season, Thielen has 62 catches for 610 yards and four touchdowns. With the Vikings in 2022, Thielen had just 70 catches for 716 yards. He’s on pace to shatter those numbers with the Panthers in his first season.

Tonight, Thielen’s O/U for receptions is set at (6.5) vs. the Bears. He’s gone over that number in six of his eight games played in 2023. In his last game, Thielen had five catches on six targets for just 29 receiving yards. The Panthers will be on the road tonight to face the Bears who will be without Justin Fields.

Travis Kelce Will Be In Argentina To See Taylor Swift Show This Week - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Things have been somewhat quiet on the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift news front over the past couple of weeks. After her string of appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games, she has been absent from the sky boxes and the NFL cameras for the past couple of weeks for games in Denver and Frankfurt, Germany.

Travis Kelce Will See Taylor Swift In Argentina This Weekend

She has good reason. Swift’s “The Eras Tour” is continuing this month, as she will be playing nine shows in South America that will take her through Thanksgiving weekend. It is the start of what is a massive international schedule for the global sensation, which will start up again in February with dates in Japan and Australia, followed by Singapore in March.

It may be tough for Travis Kelce to keep up with his world-traveling girlfriend, but he’s going to do his best, starting this week.

According to reports, Kelce will be traveling to Argentina this weekend, and will catch some (all?) of Swift’s performances in Buenos Aires. The Chiefs are on a bye this week and won’t play again until November 20th, meaning that the All-Pro tight end has some time to kill in the middle of the season.

International Trips In Back-To-Back Weekends For Kelce

It will be a good amount of travel on the body of an NFL player. Not only will he endure the normal wear and tear of the travel of a professional football player, but Kelce will have included two international trips on back-to-back weekends to the normal routine. The flights from Kansas City to Frankfurt are about 13 hours worth of travel time, and getting to Argentina from Missouri is an even longer trek.

Will it have any effect on Travis Kelce and his performance on the field? That remains to be seen, but he hasn’t exactly been on fire with his statistics over the past couple of weeks. In Week 8 against the Broncos, he caught five passes for 58 yards, and the Dolphins held him to just 3 catches for 14 yards in Week 9.

Upon returning from the bye week, the Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in what could very well be a Super Bowl preview.

49ers’ Defensive Coordinator Steve Wilks will be moving from the booth to the sideline in Week 10 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Heading into Week 10, the 49ers are making some internal decisions to try and help their struggling defense. Steve Wilks was hired this offseason by the 49ers to be their defensive coordinator. DeMeco Ryans left San Francisco this offseason to be the head coach of the Texans.

Wilkes’ defense looked strong through the first five games of the season for the 49ers. However, the past three games have been a struggle on defense. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Wilks will move from the booth to the field in Week 10 as a way to help out the defense. Will moving Wilks to the field be enough to save a Niners defense that has lost their identity?

The 49ers are making some adjustments on defense coming out of their Week 9 bye

Steve Wilks is in his first season as the DC for the 49ers. Last year he was with the Panthers and became interim head coach when Matt Rhule was fired mid-season. For the first eight games of the season, Wilks was in the booth. He would tell the play to the linebackers coach Johnny Holland, who would then really it to Fred Warner on the field. Warner then tells his teammates the play call.

For their first five games of the season, the Niners were first in the league, allowing only (13.6) points per game. San Francisco has given up an average of (24.0) points over their three-game losing streak. At 5-3, the Niners are trying to get back on track this weekend vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. They feature a high-powered offense that is dominant on the ground and through the air.

The defense has not been up to standard for the Niners over the last three weeks, but neither has the offense. San Francisco scored 30+ points over their first five games in 2023. On their three-game losing streak, the Niners have scored 17 points in each game. Seventeen points is enough to win you a game, but not with the brand of defense the Niners have played recently. They’ll be on the road this weekend to face Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said it’s hard to see Justin Fields as Chicago’s starting QB in 2024 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Tonight, the Chicago Bears will be at home to host the Panthers on TNF in Week 10. Once again, the Bears will be without starting QB Justin Fields. He’ll miss his fourth straight game with a thumb injury he sustained in Week 6. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent has started for Fields in the times he’s missed.

With how the Bears’ season is heading, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky had a strong take on Justin Fields. He thinks Fields not being Chicago’s starter next season is a real possibility. The Bears are going to likely have top-5 picks in the 2024 Draft. Orlovsky doesn’t see a world where the Bears wouldn’t take a QB with one of those first-round selections.

Is Justin Fields’ job on the line this season with the Bears?

Justin Fields has played in 33 career games over three seasons for the Bears and has made 31 starts. He played in 15 of Chicago’s 17 games last season, going 3-12 in those games. In six starts this season, Fields is 1-5. Over his career with the Bears, the 24-year-old is just 6-25 as their starting QB. It’s hard to deny his talent level, but it hasn’t translated to wins on the field.

Dan Orlovsky is only speculating when he mentioned Fields not being with Chicago in 2024. He doesn’t know what’s going on inside the Bears’ organization and what their plan is for the future. Chicago might feel comfortable with Fields at QB and could look for more talent to add on offense for him. However, there is a chance that the Bears are ready to cast Fields away and draft a new QB in the 2024 Draft.

There’s no telling when Fields will be able to return this season. Until then, Tyson Bagent will start for the Bears. When Fields is healthy enough to play, he’ll be their starter. His future with the team could depend on how the rest of the season plays out. It would be in his best interest to come back as soon as he can to try and save his job. However, the Bears also want to keep a high draft spot with the chance to have two top-5 picks. We’ll have to wait and see how the second half of the season goes for Chicago.

After a 5-0 start to the 2023 season, the San Francisco 49ers are dealing with some adversity right now. They’ve been dealing with injuries to key offensive players and have lost three in a row. At 5-3, the Niners have a slim lead over the Seahawks in the NFC West.

For the past two games, WR Deebo Samuel had been out with a hairline fracture in his left shoulder. The 27-year-old sustained the injury in Week 6 vs. the Browns. San Francisco’s offense has been stagnant over their three-game losing streak. Luckily, reports around the league note that Samuel was a full participant at Wednesday’s practice. All signs point to the All-Pro returning in Week 10.

Will Deebo Samuel’s return be enough to help get the 49ers out of their losing streak?

The 49ers have lost three games in a row since starting the season 5-0. San Francisco has lost to Cleveland, Minnesota, and Cincinnati in that time. Coming off a Week 9 bye, the Niners will be on the road to face the red-hot Jaguars. Jacksonville are winners of five straight games and momentum is undoubtedly on their side.

In their last three losses in a row, the 49ers have scored 17 points in each game. The offensive line is not healthy and the Niners haven’t had their full complement of weapons. For their matchup this week with the Jags, All-Pro WR Deebo Samuel is expected to be valuable in Week 10. He was a full participant at Wednesday’s practice for the 49ers. They’ll hope he can bring a spark of energy to an offense that scored 30+ points in each of their first five games.

Another player the 49ers have been without for their last two games is All-Pro LT Trent Williams. He’s dealing with an ankle injury that head coach Kyle Shanahan said might be more serious than they initially thought. The offense going from 30+ points per game to only 17 can be directly correlated with the loss of Williams. His production at LT is irreplaceable by anyone else the Niners use. It might be a bit longer before the 35-year-old returns to action.

Vikings Injury Report: Justin Jefferson could return as soon as Week 11 for Minnesota - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The Minnesota Vikings have been without All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson for the past four games. The 24-year-old injured his hamstring late in Week 5 vs. the Chiefs. His injury was serious enough to where the Vikings had to place him on the IR. Jefferson’s four-week stay on the IR is over and his return is looming.

The Vikings opened his 21-day practice window this week. He now has the next three weeks to get fully prepared to play. Head coach Kevin O’Connell noted that it’s unlikely to see Jefferson in Week 10 vs. the Saints. Jefferson will continue to rehab and get ready for whenever the Vikings feel he’s ready to return.

After a long wait, Justin Jeefferson’s return to Minnesota is on the horizon

Justin Jefferson is not the typical WR in the NFL and the Vikings know they have an elite talent in him. With that, they’ve been playing it extra cautious with his hamstring injury. The Vikings have plans of singing the 24-year-old longterm after this season and they don’t want him dealing with a lingering injury. Minnesota gave him the time he needed on the IR and still has another three weeks to get back into a game.

Before his hamstring injury in Week 5, Jefferson was on pace for another huge season. He has 36 catches for 571 yards and three touchdowns. That’s an average of (114.2) yards per game. Over a 17-game season, that would give Jefferson over 1,900+ receiving yards. A 17-game season isn’t happening this year, but that doesn’t mean Jefferson won’t still dominate when he returns.

A huge reason for Jefferon’s return is the team’s success in their last four games. After a 1-4 start to the season, the Vikings have won four straight and are now 5-4. If the season ended today, they would be the 7th seed in the NFC playoffs. Kirk Cousins is out for the season with an Achilles injury, but Minnesota brought in some backup to help them win.

Joshua Dobbs was traded to the Vikings at the deadline from the Cardinals. Rookie Jaren Hall started in Week 9 but left the game early with signs of a concussion. With little to no experience with the Vikings, Dobbs was quickly thrown into the game and led the team on a game-winning drive. That success was enough for the Vikings to feel comfortable bringing Justin Jefferson back. He’ll easily be the best WR that Dobbs will have played with in his career.

Bengals Injury Report: Ja’Marr Chase Officially A DNP On Wednesday - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was officially a did not practice on the Wednesday practice report due to a back issue.

Chase suffered the injury in Sunday night’s win over the Buffalo Bills. He had a relatively quiet game only catching 4 passes for 48 yards. Chase looked hampered by the back injury and that could explain the down game. The Bengals and Joe Burrow looked mighty fine without him having a big game. Tee Higgins was the main beneficiary from the down game as he caught 8 receptions for 110 yards. Higgins was also battling injury as he was coming back from a broken rib.

https://nbcsports.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/225fa98/2147483647/strip/false/crop/5616x3744+0+0/resize/1486x991!/quality/90/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnbc-sports-production-nbc-sports.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com%2Fbrightspot%2Fce%2F50%2Fa5fd003e4cdd98eb0aecade01335%2Fhttps-delivery-gettyimages.com%2Fdownloads%2F1777407740

The back issue for Chase should not be one that has any long term affects from him going forward. Head Coach Zac Taylor stated that Chase was a a bit sore and will be limited at practice this week. The DNP on a Wednesday is not overly concerning as a DNP on Thursday or Friday. The Bengals are most likely being cautious with their star wide receiver and we should now more about his injury tomorrow. But for now, Chase’s status for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

The Cincinnati Bengals are +300 to win the AFC North according to Ohio sportsbooks. Cincinnati is currently a 7 point favorite against the Houston Texans.

In a very competitive AFC North, the Bengals will need Ja’Marr CHase as healthy as possible, so he could be held out and be back just in time for a huge divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11 on Thursday Night Football. We know how much Joe Burrow likes his former LSU teammate, so the offense may have to revolve around Higgins and Joe Mixon this Sunday against Houston.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is listed as doubtful for Thursday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers.

Tyson Bagent will get another start as Fields will most likely not return until next week. He has been dealing with a sprained right thumb and has missed multiple weeks. It seems like he his getting closer to returning as he has practiced for the past two weeks albeit in a limited fashion. For Fields to be cleared fro a return, he would likely have to get in a full practice before returning.

Tyson Bagent

Tyson Bagent has been serviceable as a backup quarterback, but he is not the difference maker that Justin Fields can be. Even though Fields has not played as good as before, he has shown flashes of being an elite dual threat quarterback. However, depending on how this season goes, Chicago may be forced to pivot away from him and go in a new direction at quarterback. Chicago currently owns the number 2 and 3 pick in the NFL Draft thanks to the Panthers trading up for Bryce Young.

The Chicago Bears are 4 point favorites against the Carolina Panthers according to Illinois sportsbooks.

This is a very winnable game for the Chicago Bears even with Tyson Bagent at quarterback. The Bears may also get running back Khalil Herbert back after being on Injured Reserve with a high ankle sprain. Chicago may have their full allotment of skill players on Thursday night. Nevertheless, Tyson Bagent will continue to be the starter as long as Justin Fields is out. Fields should be back in Week 11 after the longer layoff than normal with them playing Thursday Night Football.

Through nine weeks in the 2023 NFL season, we continue to see the separation between contenders and pretenders. The Ravens, Texans, and Vikings all had impressive wins last week. Baltimore beat Seattle 37-3 at home to improve to 7-2 this season. C.J. Stroud put together his first game-winning drive in the NFL to beat the Bucs, 39-37. Finally, Joshua Dobbs came in for an emergency relief appearance for the Vikings. He was traded to Minnesota that week and had no experience with his teammates but still led them to a win vs. Atlanta.

NFL Week 10 Consensus Picks

All three of our NFL experts picked these teams to cover the spread in Week 10:

Best NFL Week 10 Bets

Here are our best NFL Week 10 bets for the 2023 season:

New York Giants  (+17) @ Dallas Cowboys

Anthony:  Yes, the Giants are in shambles with their injury situation and their 2-7 record, and they seem to be in prime position to land a top-5 pick when all is said and done. But 17 points is a massive spread, especially for a divisional matchup. The Cowboys are a solid 5-3 but aren’t an unstoppable force by any means, and could be vulnerable to a team that has seen them already this season (albeit with poor results).

The Cowboys should be victorious on Sunday, but the large spread gives options to perhaps a late, backdoor touchdown by New York that covers the spread. Before their Week 9 drubbing at the hands of the Raiders, the previous two losses for the Giants came by a combined 8 points.

Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) vs. New Orleans Saints

Zach: The Vikings made a trade at the deadline for Joshua Dobbs and had no plans of him playing in Week 9. He was supposed to be Jaren Hall’s backup for at least one game. When Hall went down early with signs of a concussion, Dobbs had to step up quickly and play the rest of the game for Minnesota. He didn’t start off too hot, but Dobbs found poise later on and helped lead the team to a comeback win vs. the Falcons.

Dobbs was able to do all of this with little to no experience with the team. He barely knew his teammate’s names or the plays that were being called. However, he proved he’s a true professional that can win under tough circumstances. Imagine what he can do with a week of preparation for this Sunday. The Vikings will be at home in Week 10 to face the Saints. Expect to see another gutsy performance from Dobbs for Minnesota.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1) vs. Tennessee Titans

Owen:  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a crushing shootout loss to the Houston Texans. Now The Bucs will face another rookie quarterback in Will Levis as they host the Tennessee Titans. CJ Stroud lit up this Buccaneers secondary, but I do not think Levis can replicate Stroud’s historic performance. The Buccaneers’ pass rush should get to Levis a few times. This is only his third start in the NFL so expect some growing pains when they travel to Tampa.

The Titans are most likely going to rely on Derrick Henry against a stout Tampa Bay defensive front. If Henry does not get much running room then they may steer clear from their identity on offense. It may be tough sledding for the Titans if they are going to be a pass-first offense this Sunday. Take the Bucs at home to cover this tiny points spread.

New York Giants To Start Tommy DeVito In Week 10 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

The New York Giants are planning to start Tommy Devito at quarterback in their week 10 divisional match-up against the Dallas Cowboys.

DeVito came in relief on Daniel Jones after Jones suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the season. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been on IR with a rib injury. It is unknown whether or not he will come back this season. It was also announced that Matt Barkley will be called up from the practice squad and will be the backup. The Giants also signed Jacob Eason to their practice squad to be the third string.

https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/yR1NcinO3OZnLM0UpPttfhZtpAQ=/1636x0:6000x4000/1200x800/filters:focal(3231x675:4191x1635)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/72814996/1753037987.0.jpg

Tommy DeVito is a rookie quarterback who went undrafted out of Illinois. He played for the University of Syracuse first then transferred to Illinois his senior season. That season DeVito completed 69% of his passes while throwing for 15 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. In Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders, DeVito looked serviceable completing 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards with one touchdowns and two interceptions.

The New York Giants are a massive 17 point underdog against the Dallas Cowboys according to New York sportsbooks.

The Giants season as a whole may be over as the injury bug has plagued them throughout the season. The team will have to rely on their running back Saquon Barkley who is on a one year deal and is about to head into free agency. But Barkley did state that he wants to be a New York Giant and will likely play out the remainder of games because of it. He will be the focal point of the offense. This will be a tough test going into Dallas. The Cowboys will be trying to take away Barkley and have the Giants beat them through the air.

Patriots Depth Chart: J.C. Jackson won’t travel to Germany with New England for Week 10 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

To start the 2023 season, CB J.C. Jackson was with the LA Chargers. The 27-year-old signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract and only played one full season. After concerns about Jackson starting the 2023 season, the Chargers decided to cut their ties with the Pro Bowl CB.

Luckily, Jackson was able to land back with the Patriots. That’s where he started his career. However, his situation with New England has gone from bad to worse. Jackson was mysteriously benched for the first two drives of Week 9. Additionally, NFL insiders announced that Jackson is not expected to travel with the team to Germany in Week 10.

What did J.C. Jackson do to get benched and not travel with the Patriots this week?

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there are reportedly concerns about Jackson’s reliability with New England. The team thinks he needs a mental reset and some time away. He’ll miss Week 10 and the Patriots have a bye in Week 11. Jackson was benched for the first two drives of the game and played 53 of 78 possible defensive snaps.

Cornerback’s coach Mike Pellegrino could not give a clear answer to the media as to why Jackson was benched by the Patriots. He tried joking around saying all players need experience, but that’s just not the case here. A player like Jackson doesn’t get benched for someone with only one NFL start before Week 9. There’s certainly more to this story and the Patriots are keeping it in-house for now.

With Jackson set to miss this Sunday vs. the Colts, Shaun Wade will be making his third career start for New England. The Patriots know Jackson is a fine player, but off-the-field issues could be playing a factor here. We don’t know the full details and we’ll have to wait and see what information is released. All we know is that veteran CB J.C. Jackson is not traveling with the Patriots this Sunday for their game in Germany vs. the Colts.

NFL Thursday Night Football Public Betting: 55% Picking Panthers To Come Out On Top - originally posted on Sportslens.com

See what keen observers and avid fans are expecting to happen in this week’s Thursday Night Football clash between the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers as we take a look at the latest NFL public betting trends.

NFL Thursday Night Football Public Betting Figures And Trends

According to the latest figures, 55% of bettors are picking the Carolina Panthers spread against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 10 – with the line set at +3.5 and odds of -110.

Just 45% are siding with the favorites spread at -3.5 this week, but the game is expected to be as close as the public betting suggests with both sides in awful form this season.

Carolina have won just one game this season with rookie quarterback Bryce Young at the helm, but this week they take on a Chicago side who have lost just as many games after nine weeks.

With both sides coming into the game this week on 7 losses for the season there is no telling what might happen on Thursday night, but Chicago do hold home advantage.

In their last game, the Bears lost by one touchdown against the New Orleans Saints, as they continued to struggle in the league without star QB Justin Fields.

Fields has been listed as doubtful to play on Thursday night, but he hasn’t been ruled out completely as thee quarterback continues to recover from a hand injury.

Carolina are coming into Thursday night’s game off the back of a significant defeat to the Indianapolis Colts, but the week prior to that they picked up their first win of the season against the Texans.

Bears Vs Panthers Odds And Line

  • Moneyline: Chicago Bears: -185 | Carolina Panthers: +165
  • Point Spread: Bears (-3.5) -110 | Panthers (+3.5) -110
  • Total Points: Over 39.0 -110 | Under 39.0 -110

Titans Depth Chart: Rookie Will Levis has been named Tennessee’s new starter for the rest of 2023 - originally posted on Sportslens.com

At 3-5 this season, the Titans are going to have to claw back if they want any chance of making the postseason. Tennessee is 3-1 at home and 0-4 on the road in 2023. Ryan Tannehill started the first six games and rookie Will Levis has started the Titans’ last two contests. The veteran QB was out with a high ankle sprain and that gave Levis a chance to show what he’s got.

In his first two starts, Levis went 1-1. He had an incredible first start in Week 8 and then had a below-average game in Week 9. After what he’s shown the team this season, head coach Mike Vrabel announced Levis will be their starter moving forward. Tannehill will be his backup, not something he’s used to doing. A bold decision for the Titans, but one they likely needed to make for the future of their franchise.

Mike Vrabel announced that Will Levis is Tennessee’s starter for the final nine games this season

Moving on from a veteran QB to a rookie mid-season is not ideal, but it’s one the Titans needed to make. While Ryan Tannehill was out with an ankle injury, Will Levis started two games for the Titans. If not for their bye in Week 7, Levis would have started three games already. Tannehill injured his ankle in Week 6 vs. Baltimore and missed Tennessee’s next two contests.

The 35-year-old had been the starter for the Titans since he took over in Week 6 of 2019 for Marcus Mariota. Now, Tannehill is the QB being replaced. Not an easy pill to swallow. He’s started 149 of his 151 career games in the NFL. His final nine games in 2023 will be served as Will Levis’s backup. Tannehill is a free agent at the end of this season.

For the Titans in 2023, Will Levis has had two very different starts. In his first regular-season start in Week 8, Levis threw for four touchdowns and got Tennessee a win. His Week 9 performance was not as magical as his first start. Levis had zero touchdowns vs. the Steelers last week and threw one interception. Tennessee will be on the road in Week 10 to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chicago Bears vs Carolina Panthers Odds, Picks, Line: Week 10 NFL Predictions - originally posted on Sportslens.com

Carolina and Chicago have been two of the more disappointing sides in the NFL this season and they take each other on this Sunday. Ahead of the match, we have all the odds and lines here as well as our picks for the Chicago Bears vs Carolina Panthers.

Chicago Bears vs Carolina Panthers Picks

  • Back the Bears to cover (-3.5)(-110)
  • D’Onta Foreman to score a touchdown (+110)

Bears vs Panthers Pick 1: Back The Bears To Cover (-110 with BetOnline)

The Carolina Panthers have the joint worst record in the NFL this season (along with the Cardinals) and we think they are set to struggle yet again this weekend, when they face the Chicago Bears.

Without Justin Fields at the helm Chicago has struggled to put together any sort of win streak, with their last victory coming in week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

This week Fields has been placed on the limited injury report, so he could make a return to the Bears team this week in what is set to be a very important match against Carolina.

With the Bears coming in to the game as 3.5 point favorites, we are backing the 2-7 side to cover against a Panthers side who look to be running out of ideas.

Bears vs Panthers Pick 2: D’Onta Foreman Anytime Touchdown (+110 with BetOnline)

Our second pick for Thursday night football this week is for Chicago running back D’Onta Foreman to score a touchdown against the Panthers.

Foreman has three touchdowns in his five games so far this season, with all of those scores coming in week three vs the Lass Vegas Raiders.

We think Foreman can find his way into the end zone this weekend against a Carolina side that will no doubt struggle again this week, especially if the running back is utilised as much as he has been in the last couple of weeks.

Bears vs Panthers Odds and Line

  • Moneyline: Chicago Bears: -185 | Carolina Panthers: +165
  • Point Spread: Bears (-3.5) -110 | Panthers (+3.5) -110
  • Total Points: Over 39.0 -110 | Under 39.0 -110
